DISTRESSFUL PROJECT
The idea of an atmospheric doom metal side project apart from ATRA HORA emerged as far back as 2008. It took literally 2 months to compose a full-length album. However the musicians had been rescheduling the recording up until 2012. The first version of the album titled “Neverending Pain” recorded under the auspices of Armand Quenteres (SACRATUS). “Neverending Pain” has never been released and can be downloaded from DISTRESSFUL PROJECT bandcamp page only. The material of the album could be classified as canonical Gothic Doom Metal. But that is not the half of the story. In 2016 the decision was made to re-record the album. Initially the musicians were going to re-record it without any changes. However, as the work progressed it became evident that their feel of both the material and the genre itself had changed. It resulted in rearrangement and reframing of the whole album. The new version was titled “Fucked-Up Songs” and included elements uncharacteristic of doom death metal: electronic beats, post-rock guitar lines etc. After several renamings the act was finally named DISTRESSFUL PROJECT. This name perfectly reflects the hard 8 years-long way made by these songs to be released in a CD format and, finally, to find their listeners.
