"The ancient evil from the Bryansk region forests" - this is the name of a new split CD featuring two Russian-language thrash metal bands from Bryansk (Russia). SKHOLASTIKA and J.J. PROJECT are the best representatives of the genre in this region of Russia. The EPs they present on this split CD are a perfect example of thrash metal from the primeval lands of the Bryansk region. The opus by SKHOLASTIKA belongs to the US school of thrash metal characteristic of the second half of the 80s — thick and groovy. Gruff and furious vocals by Yury ‘Bess’ give 100%. Unfortunately this is his last studio record — he had to quit the band for personal reasons in summer of 2024. While SKHOLASTIKA is quite known in central Russia, Belarus and Serbia, J.J. PROJECT is a new name, although the band was formed about eight years ago. J.J. PROJECT’s music is close to the uptempo thrash metal performed by Anatoliy Krupnov in Cherniy Obelisk. This split CD is a must-have for true fans of oldschool metal!!!
