Perikato is the second album by the Finnish grindcore band Sarin Attack, and musically it continues right from where the first album finished, delivering yet another violent assault of intense grindcore, retaining the speed and aggression from the previous album, but adding some new elements of old school death metal. The album title Perikato is a Finnish word which means "ruin" or "downfall" in English, and tells what to expect in terms of the lyrical approach. The lyrics of the songs are as relentless and unforgiving as the music in their harsh depiction of the current state of the western civilization. Where the failed state of western democracy in the grips of totalitarian tendencies is manifesting itself on more or less daily reports of corruption, war crimes, religious fanaticism, genocides being “business as usual” or a means to an end, and civilian casualties are just collateral losses in a cynic struggle for power. This album is a musical depiction of all these things and just shows that the real world is far more brutal and terrifying than any horror fantasy that some would choose to write songs about. Musically it is an extremely violent and fast grindcore with a death metal sound wnd crust / hardcore influences. This time the lyrics on the album are mainly in Finnish, but there are some English lyrics as well. The sources of musical inspiration include early Napalm Death, Repulsion, Carcass, Xysma etc. and even such Swedish and Finnish crust bands as Rövsvett, Anti Cimex, Wolfbrigade, Skitsystem, Terveet Kädet, Kaaos, Rattus etc.
