TOMBWEED (Tomsk, Russia) returns with a new portion of stoner-sludge, however this time they dig much deeper! A little over a year after their debut release, these stoner maniacs present their second album coming out via the iconic More Hate Productions. Since the release of the debut, the band has managed to not only preserve its frenziness, but also deliver its new material from the bottom of a stinking sludgy swamp. There are 7 tracks on the album, and almost each of them is a kind of allusion and homage to American exploitation films of 1970s-‘80s: B-movies, rusty wheelbarrows, blood and sweat — you can feel it all through the sound and the mood of the album. To say TOMBWEED play music you hardly expect from a Russian band would be an understatement! Thick and greasy fuzz makes the room air coglutinate. The songs are full of contrasts — uptempo hardcore punk suddenly turns into downtempo groove resembling a jammed cassette tape. The aesthetics of dirt, strain and revelry — nothing clean, nothing extra. This is a cool and definitely a landmark work for the fans of the genre!
